Shaping the Future:
Strategic Initiatives in the UK & US
The global security architecture is being reshaped, as democratic nations recalibrate their policies and approaches to meet today’s pressing challenges and to build a strong foundation for future stability. Major changes are unfolding in strategic sectors that must transition away from a peacetime mindset to be ready to confront mounting global threats.
Western countries are rearming at pace, not only increasing defence expenditure but also re-evaluating their arsenals in favour of modern solutions whose effectiveness has been proven on the battlefield in Ukraine. Approaches to critical minerals—where numerous strategic missteps have been made in recent years—are being reconsidered, as are supply chains for strategically important goods and food. Meanwhile, protection protocols across multiple domains are being revised, with stronger third-party due diligence and risk management measures.
At COSA, we stand at the leading edge of this process, offering new approaches and ready-made solutions primarily in the defence industry and CRM mining and processing, bringing together stakeholders united by a common purpose and fostering the development of new, reliable partnerships for a stronger Free World.

Sharing expertise and findings on international issues affecting the global security landscape is a crucial part of our relations with international partners. In-depth research must be matched by action if the Free World as we know it is to survive, and hopefully, thrive.
With this in mind, we conduct a series of roundtables and briefings with our Western colleagues on strategic cooperation in key sectors, such as the defence industry and CRM. Recently, we presented our reports on strategic dependencies to an audience of professionals in the United Kingdom: “Titanium: A Trap for the Free World” and “Ukraine’s Critical Raw Materials: A European Perspective”.
Most importantly, we highlighted areas where Ukraine can play a key role in reducing risks to supply chains and closing technological gaps in critical minerals and defence, while also exploring ways to advance joint initiatives in these fields. A window of opportunity has opened, one that demands expertise, resolve, and collective effort, along with the determination to act quickly. In an unpredictable world marked by rising global tensions, every day matters.

The United States is very serious about building their future force capabilities. Ukraine has become the recurring reference point in every discussion as well as both general and specialised reports by the United States’ most sophisticated defence firms and Department of Defense (War) experts.
But America’s involvement in developing arms with Ukraine remains limited. Many of the existing systems are not as effective as they should be, while others are lacking. And yet the challenges Ukraine, Europe, and the US face today and may encounter tomorrow require unity in search of technological solutions and their technical implementation on an industrial scale.
Our regular dialogue with the Americans, including the recent series of meetings we have held with National Defense Industrial Association members at Fort Worth, America’s home to many defence primes, has shown that no matter how developed our foreign partners are in terms of technology, the lack of on-the-ground experience in high-intensity conflict leads to significant gaps on every level of arms development, from concept of operations to scalable supply chains.
Designing integration mechanisms for joint systems development and manufacturing is at the core of these discussions. The task is to overcome political and regulatory constraints, a challenge well within our grasp.
Ukraine should continue working closely with all its allies. It has a historic role as the missing link that can bring the Free World together. We at COSA will support these processes by doing what we do best, building trust through intelligence and connecting the right people and the most promising ideas at the right time.
